March 29, 2007 - Invitrogen Corporation (IVGN) and Emiliem, Inc. Sign Major Kinase Screening Agreement

CARLSBAD, Calif. & EMERYVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Invitrogen Corporation (Nasdaq:IVGN), a provider of essential life science technologies for disease research and drug discovery, today announced a partnership with Emiliem, Inc. to screen the company’s multi-kinase inhibitors using Invitrogen’s SelectScreen™ platform. Invitrogen will perform biochemical kinase screening, cellular pathway profiling and P450 screening of Emiliem’s compounds targeting cancer. Financial details of the multi-year agreement were not disclosed.

Emiliem has agreements with the UK and Germany sites, which provide pre-clinical and clinical capabilities including regulatory filings.

Emiliem, Inc. has entered into a Master Services Agreement with GVK Biosciences Private Limited, a leading drug research services company in India. GVK Bio’s parent company is a $1 billion enterprise with interests in infrastructure, services, and manufacturing. GVK Bio has over 1,000 employees, including approximately 500 medicinal chemists, and has laboratories and informatics units located in Hyderabad, India and a knowledge process outsourcing unit in Chennai, India.

Emiliem has entered into a Master Collaboration Agreement with Oy Jurilab Ltd, a Finnish corporation founded by members of the Research Institute of Public Health at the University of Kuopio, Finland. Jurilab is applying proprietary discoveries of genes and genetic markers associated with the underlying cause of common diseases and drug response. Jurilab’s current emphasis is on disease risk assessment and molecular sub-typing tests, human-validated drug targets, pharmacogenetic profiling tests, and biochemical and genotyping services. Jurilab combines access to the unique East Finland Founder population with state-of-the-art technologies.
